Acid attack: Police arrest suspect from Lahore

Azhar had been married to Samina but she filed a suit after the couple developed disagreements.

BAHAWALPUR: A man suspected of attacking his estranged wife Samina Bibi, a resident of Sama Satta, with acid was arrested from Lahore on Monday. Muhammad Azhar had fled after throwing acid at Samina. Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Muhiuddin Gujjar had formed a special team to arrest Azhar. The team located Azhar using technical and human resources and arrested him from a hotel in Lahore. Azhar had been married to Samina but she had filed a suit for dissolution of marriage after the couple developed disagreements. Azhar went to the house of Samina’s parents, threw acid on her and fled. She is receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital Bahawalpur and is in a critical condition.
