According to a statement issued by the party, the notices were issued by Barrister Farogh Naseem to the relevant departments.
The notice alleges that not issuing MQM chief Altaf Hussain a NICOP was illegal, unconstitutional and undemocratic.
MQM refutes Interior Minister's version
Earlier on Friday, the MQM responded to interior minister Chaudhry Nisar's press conference, claiming that the national identity card was the basic right of every citizen.
MQM’s Haider Abbas Rizvi said that no one could snatch the right of obtaining an NIC from their leader.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, he said NADRA officials had carried out the procedure for Altaf’s identity card not at his residence but at the party's secretariat in London in the presence of the Pakistani High Commission to the UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan.
Rizvi asserted that the interior minister's claim that NADRA officials went to Altaf’s residence and that his picture for the form registration form was taken with a personal camera, were false and baseless.
The MQM leader said that mobile registration service was available for all Pakistani citizens who were unable to come to the NADRA office. “All the procedures of filling and submitting the form were completed and a computerised receipt was handed out to us.”
Rizvi said that the NADRA officials and the interior minister were coming out with baseless excuses to delay the process.
“40 days had passed since Altaf Hussain applied for NICOP, the interior minister had not informed him that the data had become corrupt.”
He demanded that the identity card be issued to Altaf Hussain, otherwise the party would continue with its protests.

MQM is made only to make Altaf Hussain God father of Karachi Hyderabad. The people who come on roads whether through instructions from London or sent by sector incharges, I ask them why do not you let people to behave normally. strange
I must be slow....because I fail to understand just why he so desperately needs to become a Pakistani once again after over 20 years. Someone please educate me on this.
by threatening to shut down the unfortunate city of Karachi over delay of passport to its British chief this "organization" has once again for the zillion time shown how much care it has for the unfortunate people of Karachi and their well being
I think it won't be a big problem, follow the process uncle Altaf will get, Don't make more panga as we have many other problems, it is very small problem. So don;t Panic
As we all know, delays in govermental procedures are quite common in Pakistan. However, the delay should be reasonable. The problem with MQM is that it wants preferential and VIP treatment at every front..
Getting an NIC is the legal right of every citizen of Pakistan who pays taxes and lives here, not of those who have abandoned this country and willingly chosen not to get their Passport renewed or NIC issued for over 22 years. Altaf must go through the process and be made to take fresh oath of allegiance and loyalty to Pakistan, which he should willingly take, if he is serious about thus issue.
