The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued a notice to the prosecutor-general (PG) of Sindh on a petition seeking an inquiry into the alleged extrajudicial killing of a man, whom the Muttahida Qaumi Movement claimed was an activist of the party and was tortured to death by law enforcers.
Samreen Jehan went to court to seek an inquiry into the death of her husband, Noman Talib, who was allegedly tortured while in the custody of law enforcers.
In her plea, she claimed that Rangers had arrested her husband and did not present him before any magistrate or court. She maintained that Noman was not involved in any criminal activity. She alleged that the paramilitary forces had killed her husband and dumped his body in the bushes near Super Highway.
The petitioner blamed the law enforcers for killing of her husband and pleaded to the court to order action against them. She also requested the court to order the authorities to pay compensation to her for killing husband.
During previous hearings, the SHC had ordered the police to record statements of the petitioner, witnesses and lodge an FIR, if any cognisable, offence was made out.
On Tuesday, the bench was headed by SHC Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, issued a notice to the PG to file his comments in this regard by the next date of hearing, which would be announced later.
