Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (Iesco) on Monday advised people to adopt precautionary measures during the rain spell in the federal capital, according to a press release.
Iesco has issued directives, urging people to ensure old and damaged cables are repaired at their homes and that they do not touch naked wires if any. They have also asked consumers to use three-pin plugs for electric equipment and ground electricity to prevent electrocution.
Iesco advised people to use yarn or jute rope instead of a metal wire to dry clothes. Children should be asked to remain away from electricity transmission lines while playing in the streets. Moreover, cattle should not be tied to electricity poles.
People should maintain a distance of at least 100 feet from high tension electricity lines, said the press release and avoid direct contact with a person who has been electrocuted and always use a piece of wood or cloth to protect him. In case of any emergency, people have been directed to contact Iesco Helpline 118 and contact the complaint office or SDO.
