Everyone was surprised to see that the PTI chief had not used a signal word against the former chief justice despite his constant criticism in the recent past regarding Chaudhry’s alleged role in the rigging. Imran had also termed him as an “Indian umpire”.
Sources revealed that many people including senior lawyers namely Hamid Khan, Wajiuddin Ahmad, Ahmad Awais, Advocate General Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Latif Yousufzai were upset over Imran’s statement against Chaudhry. Therefore, they recommended the PTI chief not to malign the former chief justice unnecessarily.
It is to be noted that these lawyers, who are senior members of PTI, were some of the main supporters of the former CJP during his tenure. Similarly, Hamid Khan was the head of one section of legal fraternity, which was known as “pro Iftikhar lawyers group”.
“I think former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has done nothing wrong to PTI as he has given relief to our party in so many cases in the past”, stated a senior PTI lawyer, adding that he disagreed with his leader’s stance on this matter.
Giving details about the cases, he said that when the PTI chief had approached the top court against the unverified voters’ lists, the then chief justice had admitted his petition and started the process regarding the preparation of new voters’ lists.
The senior lawyer further stated that Chaudhry while accepting PTI’s plea had ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to verify voters’ lists in Karachi with the help of the army and the Frontier Corps.
The former chief justice had also stressed the commission to devise a mechanism so that overseas Pakistanis could exercise their ‘right of vote’ before the next general elections, he added.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahsan, an active lawyer and senior member of pro Iftikhar lawyers group, also said that since Hamid Khan is the group’s leader, they have conveyed their reservations to him regarding Imran’s viewpoint regarding the former chief justice.

Even his own party member's think he's gone nuts. Haha, grow up IK. You are too indecisive and childlike to be a PM of any country.
Pakistan is a mess ! Not Pakistan itself but the mindset of the leaders. How can a responsible politician cast aspersions on a retired CJ with such disdain? It can never happen anywhere else in the world ! Mr.Khan's allegations against the CJ is based on what? Just hunches and circumstantial evidence. No wonder Pakistan has no institutions left. When you humiliate the head of an institution, what do you expect? IK should give his mouth a rest. He has an illusion of grandeur. He may have been a great cricketer but he is a 3rd rate politician.
Imran has really shown great immaturity in handling the issue. He should not have blamed Chief Justice and Chief election commissioner and should avoid be seen with junks like Sheokh Rashid and Mubashir Luqman who are hollow characterless personalities living on their word smithing entertaining ability .
Concentrate on the election tribunal decision period , quality of Ink used in elections and the material which you have.Unnecessary expansion of it including former CJ, Geo and Election commission will not take you where you want to go which is fair 'Electoral process'.
You should be mindful that for most Pakistanis including me you are of the status "Favourite son of soil".Please do not tarnish it by just getting spinned by others.
Thinking has never been IK's strong point. He needs all the help he can get.
Nida Alvi above write very right. Yes. All TV channels have almost announced in India before complete counting of votes that BJP is going to win the elections. Are all of them doing rigging. Imran is an immature and selfish person. He never speaks truth. Her always tells lie. He did not spare respected retired Judges just for his worldly gains. He should remember that one day he will have to leave this world ad answer Allah for all his deeds. Allah bless Pakistan.

Imran Khan has lost his senses after dragging the respected people like former CJ Justice (R) Iftikhar Chaudhry and former CEC Justice (R) Fakhruddin Ebrahimji into his childish controversies. He is quite immature and needs to learn from the Indian elections: 1. Most of the tv channels have announced election results within half-an-hour of voting, whereas he is making hue & cry against tv channels that showed winning speech after 6.5 hours. 2. He is abusing the two mainstream parties system in Pakistan. But almost all other democracies have 2-party system, e.g, USA has Democrats & Republicans, UK has Torries & Labors and India has BJP & Congress. 3. The governments complete their constitutional tenure and all public servants serve under the public representatives. 4. Everyone, including holy establishment, respect the mandate of the public. 5. The political parties seek the mandate from public and govern the country at their turn. BJP had a very simple election slogan: "Ab ke bar, Modi Sarkar". People like Zaid Hamid, Maulvi Qadri and Imran Khan should learn to respect the mandate of the public. In the civilized world, the backdoor to power is locked and the doctrine of necessity is buried forever.
Let us have patience. IK would do the right thing after he has tried everything else. His record speaks for him. A person who was playing test cricket in 1979 is no spring chicken despite all the claims of being young and new. IK is the oldest among top three politicians yet not matured. The fact he allows his followers to call him King Khan says a lot about his lifestyle, his own family and his hobnobbing with British masters. Being Khan, Niazi, or Kaptan is not good enough?
All my respect for Chief Justice (r) Iftikhar Ch. Imran Khan did wrong by blaming him.

Imran Khan should now discuss the issues first within PTI and then make a stand. This will enhance his reputation in the public. Many U Turns are not good for a leader. IK should now draw a line and say enough is enough. Let us concentrate on issues and not personalities. His diatribe against a media is unfortunate. I appeal to IK to think again. He should also keep a distance from foreign dignitaries like Tahir Ul Qadri. Please, please concentrate on issues facing a common man.

I voted for PTI last year and will probabaly do so again BUT what IK is doing currently is just plain disruptive. He sould let Govt. focus on issues and people .Yes he saw an opening in the rift between army and Govt. but instaed of exhibiting opportunism based on advise of his shallow and un wise supporters he should stand in favour of civilians Govt.

Imran Khan is in habit of thinking after taking action. Many time he has to retreat. Other reason he take reckless decision is that he take action to kill his boredom. So don't take him seriously.

No surprise. Just another U-turn.
I think somebody also needs to give advise to him that don't become a party against Geo & Jang. It will unnecessarily create hurdles for the great task he has got in his hand. Look Geo, they already playing loads of clips with lot of negativity. I think the right way was to have meeting with Geo Management & express the concerns. Taking one person & his one tweet into account and starting war against whole group is not in our party favor. I think Parties should not boycott any media house. Like media house, parties should also keep the balance. Today if something goes wrong with Express or Duyna or ARY, then what? Will we go against them also... I don't think this can work.
