KARACHI: K-Electric has started the process of un-bundling its core operation of power generation, transmission and distribution into separate entities, the company said on Thursday. “The un-bundling of KE’s core functions will provide independent entities ample opportunity to utilise optimal potential of each unit for efficiency enhancement and value creation through shift from integrated utility model,” it said in a notice sent to the stock exchange. K-Electric has been operating as the only integrated power company, which carries out all the tasks under the same banner and management while serving 2.2 million customers.
