US mission official meets suspect: Ex-Ohio official refuses US legal aid
Former comptroller of Chicago refuses to go back to US and also turns down services offered by US mission in Pakistan.

The former comptroller of Chicago, Amer Ahmad, who is currently in the custody of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has refused to go back to the US and also turned down services offered by the US mission in Pakistan, sources familiar with the matter revealed. An official of the US Consulate Lahore visited the FIA Punjab office and interacted with Ahmad under the counsellor access facility, Director FIA Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said. The US official offered Ahmad services of a defence lawyer and any other facility which being a US citizen, America could provide him. Ahmad however, refused counsellor services and an offer to be taken back to the US, Dr Anwar said. Ahmad, a US national of Pakistani descent was on the run after a US court issued his arrest warrant in a case relating to kickbacks.
