KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued on Monday contempt notices to the interior and foreign affairs secretaries for allegedly defying the court's directives to remove the name of the former director of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) from the Exit Control List (ECL). Headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, the bench issued notices on a contempt application filed by Shagufta, the wife of NICL former director, Amin Qasim Dada. She recalled that on the previous hearing, the bench had directed both the interior and foreign affairs secretaries to issue the passport and remove the name of her husband from the ECL so that he could return from the United Kingdom. On Monday, she stated that the respondent secretaries had failed to delete her husband's name from the ECL, which tantamount to willfully and deliberately committing contempt of the court. The bench issued notices to the both the secretaries for May 15 to file their comments.
