KARACHI:

A middle-aged man along with his two sons was killed, and his son-in-law was also injured when allegedly gangsters opened fire at them in Lyari.

The bodies of the three victims were found separately on Friday. Haq Dada Niazi, 55, and his two sons — Younus Niazi, 35, and Sultan Niazi, 30 —  and his son-in-law, Shabbir, 25, were attacked in the Daryabad area of Lyari within the limits of Kalri police station.

The victims were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, where Haq and his sons succumbed to their injuries and Shabbir is currently in critical condition.

The police officials claimed that the Lyari gangsters were behind the incident. "Haq was the paternal uncle of both — Shakeel Badshah, who is linked to the Uzair Baloch group, and Raja Pathan, linked to Baba Ladla gang," explained DSP Murtaza Mirani, while talking to The Express Tribune. "Badshah and Pathan are cousins but also rivals of one another and their uncle used to meet both of them."

According to Mirani, Badshah was not happy with his uncle for having ties with Pathan and had a dispute with his uncle on the matter. "Haq was shot by Badshah's gang members after he tried to stop them from collecting extortion money in Daryabad," he said.

"On Thursday night, Badshah had also visited Haq where angry words were exchanged between the two of them words over some personal matter."

Separately, bodies of the men were found in different parts of the city.

signs of gang war starting up its rounds of ruthless violence after so few weeks of negotiated peace. May Allah protect the poor and the innocent helpless people who reside in lyari who are forced to live there because they are so very poor and cannot afford to leave their ancestral homes.
