The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered the provincial government on Tuesday to remove all the administrative and technical hurdles that are preventing the Lyari Expressway official from carrying out his duties.
Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, who headed the bench, passed this order during the hearing of a petition against unpaid compensation to the citizens affected by the Lyari Expressway project despite the lapse of many years.
This question arose when the advocate-general, Abdul Fateh Malik, pointed out to the judges that the Lyari Expressway project director has been directed in various petitions to make payments to the relevant groups and has also been warned of contempt proceedings in cases where the court orders have not been complied with.
The judges were informed that the current project director, Syed Nasir Abbas, has not been allowed to take up the charge.
