Seven-month-old Imran was the third confirmed polio case in the province on Saturday taking the country-wide toll to 53.
This was confirmed by the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, and the head of the Extended Programme on Immunisation, Dr Mazhar Khamisani.
Imran is the son of Muhammad Iqbal, resident of Gadap's Macchar Colony and never received vaccination against the virus.
This is the second case reported from the area.
A health official said that the family was originally from Punjab but could not confirm if the boy was born in Karachi or Punjab.
