Wind power: Sindh govt gets over $1b investment

The power project will have the capacity to generate 650 megawatts of electricity.

KARACHI: The Sindh government has succeeded in getting another foreign investment of more than $1 billion for its first sponsored wind power project at Jhampeer wind corridor district Thatta/ Jamshoro. The power project will have the capacity to generate 650 megawatts of electricity and provide job opportunities to more than 1,000 people of the area. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah was pleased with the foreign investment in the power generation sector and considered it a positive indicator. He further said that the day was not far away when the province would not only become self-sufficient in power generation but supplement other provinces to get rid of load-shedding.This was observed during the meeting of provincial chief minister ith the delegation of NBT Wind Power Pakistan.
