LAHORE: A delegation of Government College University (GCU) alumni from India arrived in the city on Saturday to attend 150 years celebrations of the institution. Old Ravians Union honorary secretary Khalid Manzoor Butt and members of GCU Welfare Society welcomed the guests. The visitors include Air Wing Commander (r) Iqbal Singh, Major General (r) Ramesh Chandra and Brig (r) Harcharan Ghumman. Speaking at the GCU, Singh proposed student and faculty exchanges between universities in India and Pakistan. “We are among the last generation in India having an emotional attachment with Pakistan... the younger generation knows a lot less about Pakistan,” he said. Singh praised GCU Vice Chancellor Khaleequr Rahman and Butt for inviting them. Butt said the Indian guests would attend the re-union dinner and a musical show at the GCU’s Oval Ground on Sunday (today). He said hundreds of GCU alumni from other countries would also attend the event. He said the alumni could collect invitations from the union’s office.
