LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Lahore police to issue stickers and cards to residents of Model Town Society to be spared the inconvenience caused by the closure of a road leading to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s residence.

Counsel for Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Khurrum Khosa told the court that police had barricaded a road leading to the chief minister’s house for security. He said the blockade was causing problems to residents of H Block.

CCPO Shafiq Ahmed told the court that the road had been closed for security reasons and suggested indentification cards be issued to residents.

The judge remarked that the police should have taken the Model Town Society in confidence before closing the road and directed police to issue stickers to car owners and cards to residents of the area. The court will resume hearing on May 7.
