KARACHI:

Thirty two Indian fishermen on six boats have been captured and will be placed under arrest this (Friday) afternoon.

The indian fishermen wandered 60 nautical miles into Pakistani waters when they were arrested. Colonel Akhtar of Maritime Security said about 100 other boats had come about 100 nautical miles from the coast but had been forced back into Indian waters. He added that they only arrest  fishermen when boats get as close as 60 nautical miles.

The fishermen will be handed to the Dock police at after which a case will be registered against them.

In a display of goodwill, Pakistan and India had recently conducted a prisoner exchange of fishermen arrested by the two countries.

According to a report in The Express Tribune, the ministry of foreign affairs stated that over 900 Pakistanis, including over 100 fishermen are in Indian jails while over 200 Indian nationals are currently in Pakistani jails.
