RAWALPINDI:

A tragic traffic accident near Brahma Interchange on Bahter Road in Taxila claimed the lives of a mother and her three daughters aged between two and five years. The children's maternal uncle was injured.

The family was travelling on a motorcycle when a speeding dumper coming from the wrong side hit them. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured and deceased to hospital.

According to officials, Rescue 1122 dispatched two emergency vehicles and over six rescuers and paramedics to the scene. Four members of the same family — two-year-old Maryam Asad, four-year-old Sania Asad, five-year-old Sheema Asad and their 34-year-old mother Rameem Bibi — died on the spot.

The 28-year-old uncle, Abdul Rehman, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was shifted to hospital after first aid.

Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi spokesman Usman Gujjar said initial evidence suggests the accident occurred due to negligence of the dumper driver.

The District Emergency Officer expressed deep sorrow and urged citizens to observe speed limits and follow traffic rules.
