FAISALABAD:

Dozens of people surrounded the Faisalabad regional police officer’s (RPO) office on Thursday to protest the release of a suspect in a kidnapping case. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the police and demanded immediate re-arrest of the suspect.

Nadeem Akhtar, one of the protestors, said Sajjad Ahmad registered a case against Arshad Basra at Gulberg police station for abducting his son. He said Gulberg police managed to arrest Arshad Basra from Lahore three days ago and brought him to Faisalabad. Akhtar said that two days ago Basra was released apparently after he bribed the police. The protestors demanded that action be taken against the police officials involved.
