Sardar Mehtab Abbasi appointed as K-P Governor

The PML-N senior leader replaces Shaukatullah Khan, who resigned submitted his resignation 2 days ago.

PESHAWAR:
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) senior leader Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi was appointed as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new governor on Thursday, Express News reported.

He replaces Shaukatullah Khan who, according to sources, had submitted his resignation from the post to President Mamnoon Hussian on April 8. Khan was appointed by former president Asif Ali Zardari on February 9, last year.


PML-N Provincial General Secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak had earlier revealed that Abbasi, who was also leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly, had stepped down as MPA.

PML-N Central Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Major (retd) Amir, who was part of the first government peace talks committee, were also in the running for the post.
