K-P Governor Engineer Shaukatullah submits resignation
PML-N had decided earlier to replace Khan with Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi.
ISLAMABAD:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Engineer Shaukatullah Khan submitted his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain, Express News reported on Tuesday morning.
Commenting on the recent development, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) intermediary Professor Ibrahim said that the change of governor will not affect peace talks.
Shaukatullah Khan was appointed to this post by the then president Asif Ali Zardari on February 9, last year.
On March 23, 2014, Khan had said that the federal government had decided to replace him and that he will leave the office in honour of that decision.
Around a week after that, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had decided that Khan would be replaced by Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi.
A PML-N official had told The Express Tribune that the party chief and prime minister has finalised Abbasi’s name.
