As many as five countries, including India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Tunisia and Iraq, have confirmed their participation in the baseball tournament of the Punjab International Sports Festival (PISF) 2014. The event will likely take place in the second week of April.

Members of the national baseball team have been practicing at the training camp at the University of Central Punjab (UCP). The Pakistan Federation Baseball (PFB) coaches are holding training sessions every morning and evening to prepare players for the international event.

PFB Secretary Syed Khawar Shah expressed his determination to repeat the Asia Cup performance in the upcoming competition.

“Pakistan players are in good spirits and are quite confident that they will produce their best performance at the mega event,” he said. He also said that they were not taking any team lightly.

Shah praised the efforts of the Punjab International Youth Festival. “It’s a very useful initiative on part of the Sports Board Punjab (SBP), and will play a great role in polishing the skills of Pakistan baseball players.

It will also provide a chance for Pakistani sports fans to watch international sports activity.”
