Leadership’s trust: Sindh CM not stepping down, says Owais Muzaffar

KARACHI:

The central leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party and member of the Sindh Assembly Syed Owais Muzaffar has quashed rumours of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah leaving his office. He added that the party is investigating the motivations of those spreading such news.

“I know for sure that he is not stepping down,” he said, while speaking with the media at Sindh Secretariat on Thursday. The party trusts the CM fully, he added.

He said the leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the PPP would have knowledge of any progress regarding the MQM’s inclusion in the Sindh government. The MQM has been a PPP ally in the past, Owais said, and decisions will be made by the leadership.

The PPP leader said development work in Thatta is in progress as part of a special package and clarified that there had been no deaths in the area due to gastrointestinal infections.  Owais said that the installation of reverse osmosis plants throughout Sindh, including Thatta, is under way.

When asked about reports that he is due to become a minister again, he said, “I do not know anything about this and if the party leadership assigns me a role, I will accept it and serve according to party policy.”

Later, religious scholars and caretakers of shrines in the province called on Owais Muzaffar in order to brief him about problems faced at these sites.
