A district and sessions court granted interim bail to a Ranger’s official, who was booked for allegedly killing a man engaged in a brawl with his wife.
Zeeshan, 30, was shot dead while he was having a fight with his estranged wife near Nagan Chowrangi on February 28. Rashida Siddiqui, an additional district and sessions judge in district Central, granted bail to the Rangers official, Raheem Noor, in the second case registered against him on the complaint of the victim’s sister. The judge set the interim bail at Rs500,000.
The counsel for the victim’s family, Amir Warraich, said that the police registered a case against the official but did not include section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against him, adding that only section 319 (unintentional murder) of the PPC was inserted in the FIR.
Warraich said that an application seeking the addition of section 302 of the PPC in the FIR has been filed and the court will decided the application on March 29. The second case, No 112/14, filed under section 319 of the PPC, was registered on the complaint of Zeeshan’s sister at New Karachi police station. Earlier, a case was registered against Noor but he was given bail in that case. The previous FIR was rejected by the victim’s family who protested along with hundreds of other people.
