Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique presided over a meeting of the technical committee on dengue fever to review arrangements for control of the disease on Thursday.

Akram briefed the meeting about the weather forecast for the next two months. He said heavy rains were expected in Rawalpindi in April and May which may produce a number of hot spots for dengue mosquito breeding.

Rafique said vector surveillance and response activities should be started and the department should be on high alert.

He directed the health director general to issue instructions to the executive district officers to take necessary measures for dengue control.
