President to visit Afghanistan to celebrate Nawroz

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain will be visiting Afghanistan on Thursday at the invitation of President Hamid Karzai, a Ministry of Foreign Affairs press release stated.

This will be the President’s first visit to Afghanistan since taking office. He will be accompanied by Minister of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid and several senior officials.

The Afghan government has invited leaders from the region, particularly from Central and West Asia, to attend the Nawroz festival. The President will be interacting with other regional leaders, and probably discussing bilateral matters, issues of regional peace and security, and economic cooperation.

The President’s visit is part of the efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with Afghanistan in all dimensions and support efforts for durable peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
