Annual development budget: Female MPAs propose gender responsive programmes

Female lawmakers of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly have proposed programmes for political and economic development of women, to be included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2014-15.

The MPAs discussed development schemes for women during a three-day workshop in Islamabad organised by NGO Pak Women with support from UN’s Women Fund for Gender Equality (FGE), stated a press release. The workshop concluded on Tuesday.

Executive Director of Pak Women Azra Hussain along with media and communication officer Malik Masood emphasized on women’s economic and political participation.

K-P Assembly lawmakers Dr Meher Taj Roghani,  Khatoon Bibi, Dina Naz, Maliha Khan, Ayesha Naeem, Nagina Khan, Amna Sardar, Nadia Sher, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli, Zarin Zia, Uzma Khan, Nasim Hayat, Miraj Hamyun, Nargis Ali, Rashida Riffat, Bibi Fozia, Najma Shahin, Romana Jalil, Ruqia Hina, Yasmin Pir Muhammad and Shagufta also participated in the event.

The MPAs assured they would struggle to include the gender responsive programmes in the coming K-P ADP. At the end of the workshop, director of the finance department assured the MPAs that the proposed projects would be given due attention.
