ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took suo motu notice of two cases on Wednesday, one involving sexual harassment and the other murder.

The CJ has sought reports from PPOs of Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) within two weeks. N, resident of Ghotki (Sindh district), had filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) that she was sexually harassed by an unknown accused.

She also told the SC that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered in the local police station but the culprits were not arrested.

In another case, Shamim Bibi, a resident of Mansehra (K-P district), filed a petition telling the SC that her daughters Sidra, 11 and Jawaria, nine, were murded. Despite the registration of an FIR, the police did not take any action, she claimed.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry ordered the K-P PPO to arrest the accused without further delay. He also sought an inquiry report from the PPO.
