Inflation: Index up 0.42% during week

SPI for the combined groups was up by 0.42%; up from 211.74 points in the previous week to 212.62 points this week.

ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), for the week ended March 20, 2014, has registered an increase of 0.51% over the previous week for the lowest income group. The SPI for the week under review for the above mentioned group was recorded at 204.34 points against 203.31 points registered in the previous week, according to provisional figures from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics. The SPI for the combined groups was up by 0.42%; up from 211.74 points in the previous week to 212.62 points this week. Compared to the corresponding week last year, the SPI for combined groups inflated 10.76%. During the week under review, average prices of indexed items changed as follows: 7 items registered a decrease, 17 items increased and the remaining 29 items remained unchanged.
