A team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) officials on Wednesday raided the office of Landmark Consultants, a private architecture firm in Gulberg, and detected gas theft.
The raiding team was led by FIA Assistant Director Malik Sikandar Hayat.
The gas meter was found tampered and a 125KV electricity generator was operating on gas.
Hayat said a supervisor at the office, Sajid, had been arrested in the raid.
The Immigration Wing of the FIA on Wednesday arrested two passengers for trying to go abroad on fake documents.
FIA said one of the passengers, Sabir, a resident of Gujranwala, was on his way to Libya through Emirates Airlines using a fake visa.
FIA said Sabir had told them that Amir, a resident of Loyanwala, Gujranwala, had issued him the ‘visa’ for Libya. He said he had paid Amir Rs380,000.
In another incident, a passenger was arrested by the FIA allegedly for travelling to South Africa on a fake work permit.
Shafqat Mahmood, travelling on Emirates Airlines, had been sent to AHTC of the FIA for legal action, an FIA official told The Express Tribune.
Separately, the FIA raided a garments factory and a boy’s hostel in Johar Town and documented gas theft.
FIA officials said the gas meters had been tampered with. Cases have been registered against the building owners, they said.
Thousands of pirated books seized
A team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials on Wednesday raided two bookshops in Sheikhupura and seized thousands of pirated books.
The team comprising Inspector Farrukh Baig and Inspector Asif Hussain raided Lateef Book Shop and Sohail Book Depot, Akbar Bazaar, on a complaint filed by Roving Source Manager (operations) for sale of pirated copies of Oxford University Press books in violation of the Copyright Ordinance.
Director Usman Anwar said the Corporate Crime Circle had registered a case against Sheikh Wasim Lateef, the owner of Lateef Book Shop.

Hard to believe.
I have repeatedly lodged complaints against JINNAH news paper office located in PHA apartments sector G-7/1, block 9, flat no.2 in Islamabad, who run there generator on gas to SNGPL 1199 helpline but to no avail.
