QUETTA: An Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) on Monday issued arrest warrants for the guarantors of former President Gen (retd) Parvez Musharaf, the prime accused in Nawab Akber Bugti murder case.

ATC Judge Tariq Anwer Kasi issued the arrest warrants for Mumtaz Hussain and Nazeer Ahmed during the hearing of Bugti murder case on Monday. They had provided the court guarantees while applying for bail on behalf of Musharraf.

Lamenting the absence of prime accuse, the court observed that “prime accused Musharraf had never appeared before the court”.

Earlier, court had issued the arrest warrants for Musharraf who has never attended any hearing.

The hearing was adjourned till April 7, 2014.

Sherpao bail approved

Former interior minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and former provincial interior minister Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani appeared before the court on Monday as the ATC accepted their bail pleas.

Later, talking to media, Sherpao said that he would continue his cooperation in Nawab Bugti murder case.

“Today the court has accepted our bail pleas and issued our bail orders. We will appear before the court in next hearings,” Sherpao said, adding that he is hopeful justice would be done in Bugti murder case.

Bugti was killed along with 35 of his comrades in a military action on August 26, 2006 in the mountainous Bhamboor Range near Kohlu and Bugti tribal territory following a two-day battle.
