The distribution will be done through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and around 78,000 people of the drought-hit district will receive money under this plan.
The natural calamity in the area has so far claimed lives of more than a hundred children. The death toll rises almost everyday as authorities struggle to address the issue.
However, the health department has confirmed only 72 deaths and associated them with illnesses such as pneumonia, dysentery and blood infection.
Earlier during his visit to Tharparkar, the prime minister had announced an aid package worth Rs1 billion.

Someone should repeat the old adage for our leaders to follow : ' give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and he can feed himself for a lifetime '.
Cash? Hmmm... people should eat colored paper now.
Surprised why people are against giving cash. A patient at ICU needs blood not long term precautions list. We cannot even imagine miseries of these people. Atleast appreciate that they are giving some amount instead of few wheat bags by Sindh govt.
AMENITIES not MONEY is the need of the hour for the people of Thar. While providing them with the basics, the carrying out of the projects should be in such a way that all jobs that are created in the process should be provided to the people of Thar. Please do not make them addicts of Aid (AIDS),from which rest of the country is already suffering, though against their will.Death is better than dishonour.God bless
much better than the looters and thugs zardaris who take the money from already impoverished people and distribute in "their" swiss accounts
Cash brings about corruption, loads of corruption. It's going to be another Banazeer Income Support fiasco.
I think its the duty of all Sindh residents to stand up against oppression from the incumbent provincial government and prevent transition of Sindh to stone-age.
They don't need cash, they need food and water supplies and training in modern agricultural practices.
Not money but food and shelter. Money giving is just showing off and will be taken back from them one way or other,
No cash please. Distributing cash or writing a cheque is the easiest thing to do. These people need education, training to survive in harsh conditions and packet of condoms.
National Disaster Management is reduced to agency for weather reporting and disbursement of checks which never cash. But its officials continue to draw hefty salaries and provide photo ops to their political masters.
Pakistan as a whole has been surviving on such short term action by successive govts...why ? no steps taken to avoid such mishaps in such vulnerable areas on long term basis...I will tell you....all make money during such calamity....so why should they resolve it ?
It is a good relief specially for the poor and downtrodden people of Thar, but the question of transparency is of utmost concern. The PM should make sure that money reaches to the deserving people, and for this purpose, it is proposed that a mechanical criteria should be established for assessing the eligibility of poor people, and then a list of such incumbent should be provided to all the Banks working in the Tharparkar to open their accounts. The amount should be directly deposited in the name of those account holders, so that they can withdraw their money without any loss and difficulty.
Uh oh cash...the corrupt rulers of corruption party will usurp the money one way or the other> They are incurable most corrupt creatures on the face of this planet who can stoop to every level of inhumanity for money
It is a shame for Pakistan political leadership both at central and at local level to let the million people starve on account of drought in the deserts of Pakistan, including most vulnerable old, women and children. Where is the millions in khaki who are day in and day out parading infront of their commanding officers saluting each other and in between using long range artillery firing and aerial bombardment. The people do not require printed money but help to secured dwellings, water resource and the livelihood to work in fields. Pakistan needs a marshal settlement plan for those who have become refugees on account of natural and self created disasters. The Government needs a crisis management team o f advisers and organisers to retain the unity and integrity of a Nation.
