KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) officials paid surprise visits to different pumping stations in the city on Saturday, to survey facilities to ensure smooth supply of water during the summer season. The visiting team comprised the utility’s managing director, Qutubuddin Shaikh, its deputy managing director, Najmi Alam, and the chief mechanical engineer, Noor Muhammad Chuhan. During the survey, the officials directed to carry out repair and maintenance work of all pumping stations. Chairing a meeting with the pumping stations’ officials, Sheikh said that the provincial minister for local government, Sharjeel Memon, had recently directed the water utility to ensure the smooth running of all pumping stations and rectify the sewerage system. “You must ensure smooth supply of water to every corner of the city, even those areas which were recently affected by the deficiency of the Hub Dam,” he told the officials.
