According to a press release issued on Tuesday from the office of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Abbottabad chairman, matric exams were scheduled to start in Hazara Division from Wednesday. However, it added, snowfall over the past few days blocked access routes to examination centres in Nathiagali, Thandiyani, Ayubia and Lora circle, preventing staff from reaching their assigned stations.
“Snowfall has restricted mobility in the area and students would have faced difficulties in reaching the centres. Thus, the BISE has decided to postpone the examination which were to be held on March 12 and March 13.”
“Nearly 2,000 students of grade nine and 10 will not be appearing for Islamiat, Health and Physical Education, Persian/Arabic/Pashto/Urdu on these two dates at 26 examination centres in Galiyat,” stated the press release. However, there will be no change in the examination schedule for other areas of Hazara division,” added the notice.
As per the press release, on March 12, students of grade nine were supposed to appear for Islamiat in the morning session while students of grade 10 were supposed to sit for Health and Physical Education in the afternoon session. On March 13, students of grade 10 were supposed to appear for Islamiat in the morning and students of grade nine were supposed to sit for Persian/Pashto/Arabic/Urdu in the afternoon.
The new dates for the cancelled papers will be announced within the next couple of days, stated the document.
BISE Secrecy Department Deputy controller Mohazm Khan confirmed the papers had been postponed and the date sheet for other exams remains unchanged.
