LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday sought a reply from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) secretary on a petition against import of lard in Pakistan.

Shaukat Ali, the petitioner, said pig fat worth Rs1.5 billion was being imported to Pakistan annually.

He said the lard was being used in production of food and FBR officials had been ignoring the matter.

After hearing initial arguments, the court sought a reply from FBR secretary by second week of April.
