LAHORE:

Taking notice of lack of compliance of its order, the Lahore High Court on Wednesday criticised government.

Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan said the government remained indifferent to orders against its chief executive. The judge was hearing a contempt of court petition moved by an officer of the Ministry of Communications.

Establishment Division Deputy Secretary Sajid Mahmood appeared before the court and said the communications secretary was the authority to implement the order.

He said the post had been lying vacant since retirement of the previous secretary. When asked about appointment of a new secretary, he told the court that a summary had been forwarded to the prime minister in that regard. A deputy attorney general said the order would be complied with by the next hearing on March 10. The petitioner said that he was not reinstated despite court’s direction.
