Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that after the success of the ‘modern system of cleanliness’ in Lahore, the solid waste management in the provincial metropolis would be introduced in Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.
He was speaking to a delegation led by Al-Bayrak Group of companies’ board of directors chairman Ahmat Al-Bayrak on Wednesday.
Sharif said the government had started a number of welfare projects for the common man. “The metro bus project is a shining example of public funds being used to facilitate the masses”, he said. Sharif said a number of projects were operating successfully in the Punjab through Turkey’s cooperation. The metro-bus project was a glorious example of Pak-Turk friendship. He said the historically fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkey had turned into significant economic ties. Trade and economic relations between the two countries could only grow stronger in the future. Cooperation in energy and solid waste management, among other sectors, was discussed.
Sharif said his government was extending special facilities to foreign investors in the province. He said that more than 175,000 people travelled by metro buses in Lahore every day. He assured the Al-Bayrak group that investment in the energy sector by Turkish groups would be welcome.
Ahmat Al-Bayrak said his group would further cooperation with the Punjab in different sectors. “The metro-bus project is a masterpiece”, he said.

@ahmed: Didn't you heard about the mother who killed her kids because they were hungry from last three days? What would you prefer? Travelling in a fancy metro bus with empty stomach?
when metro bus started people started pointing that first we should care about the roti kapra of public. now solid waste management system is in plans, now people will again going to say the same thing that first we should think of roti kapra and waste management maybe later?
Is construction the only measure of success?
@Haroon Rashid: Did you get NOC from Altaf bhai for this project?
The project of Metro in Punjab is an excellent example of compliance and execution. The biggest city of Pakistan is Karachi, and the promise to launch the Metro on the pattern of Lahore is still awaited by the citizens of Karachi.
