Students create artwork using acrylics, water colours, mixed media, colour pencils, pastels and canvas.
LAHORE:
Students of the Beaconhouse School System on February 28 set the Guinness World Record for the largest art class ever held. Beaconhouse Art Curriculum Manager Rukhe Neelofer Zaidi led 5,351 students of Beaconhouse in the momentous endeavour at the Punjab Stadium. A team from the Guinness Book of World Records was present at the festival to verify the records being set. The students were thrilled to be part of the international record-breaking attempt. Thousands of workstations had been set up in neat rows for the students. They created artwork using acrylics, water colours, mixed media, colour pencils, pastels and canvas. They wore green and white shirts and caps with Pakistani flags imprinted on them and chanted Pakistan Zindabad as they waited for the results. A wave of jubilation hit the crowd as the Guinness World Records team announced that Beaconhouse students had broken the world record for the largest art class. The previous record was set by the New Taipei City Government in Sanyin Outdoor Park on November 9, 2013, with a total of 4,810 participants.
