KARACHI: A week-long workshop organised by the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) to discuss disorders of sexual development concluded on Friday. Renowned overseas medical experts were present for the workshop and called upon both parents and doctors to address the problem at an early stage. Two visiting experts, Professor Faisal Ahmad from Glasgow and surgeon Dr Philip Ransley, conducted the workshop. Other participants included surgeons, urologists, nephrologists, psychologists and social scientists from Aga Khan Hospital, National Institute of Child Health and other medical institutions. “Sexual development disorder, as an ailment, is often declared a rare condition but is, in fact, a complex issue which generates untold misery to both patients and children.”
