KARACHI:
Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has urged the administrators of schools to realise their responsibility towards the safety of their students who commute via vans installed with faulty CNG kits or cylinders. In a meeting to review the impact of measures adopted in collaboration with Karachi Road Transport Authority against overcrowded and rickety school buses and vans, he said that extreme care is needed to ensure the safety of vehicles and the children. Siddiqui said that the Karachi administration was extending all support to the traffic police engaged in a campaign against ill-fitted public vehicles. “We, however, feel it is our utmost responsibility to ensure the safety of children through stringent action against those plying their vehicles by using ill-fitted CNG kits or LPG cylinders,” he said. The commissioner said action will also be taken against the drivers and owners who may fail to ensure a seat for each and every child.
