FAISALABAD:

A woman set herself on fire following an argument in the family in Khurarianwala on Wednesday.

Police said Musarrat Shaheen, a resident of Chak 216-RB, doused herself with kerosene oil and set herself ablaze.

She was taken to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, where her condition was later reported to be critical, police said.

Naseer Randhawa, the doctor on-duty at the Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, emergency ward, said “Shaheen has sustained 80 per cent burns… we are trying our best to save her.”

Naveed Anwar, a relative of Shaheen, told the media that Shaheen had attempted suicide after she quarrelled with her husband Tahir on Wednesday night.

He said the couple had married six months ago.

The Khurarianwala station house officer (SHO) told The Express Tribune that the police had not received a complaint.
