Fearing attacks: Security forces put on high alert
Home Secretary directs police to become more vigilant keeping in view increasing threats of possible militant attacks.
PESHAWAR:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) home department’s special monitoring cell has started reviewing security arrangements, and put security forces and police on high alert following the recent attack on the Iranian Consulate in the provincial capital. The department has ordered contingents of commandos for targeted search operations in areas bordering the tribal belt and has directed police to thoroughly check residential areas for suspects, especially houses rented to Afghan nationals. According to a notification issued by the K-P Home and Tribal Affairs department on Thursday, Home Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah has directed police officials across the province to become more vigilant keeping in view increasing threats of possible militant attacks.
