ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive of Tez Gas Pvt Ltd Farooq Iftikhar has been elected as chairman of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Association of Pakistan. The election to select the chairman was held on the sidelines of the meeting of the LPG Association of Pakistan, which is an association of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) licensed LPG marketing companies. Iftikhar has been associated with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for the past 30 years and has served as president during 2012-2013. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbassi, the chief guest on the occasion, emphasised the need to reduce LPG prices to encourage its use as a domestic fuel for consumers who are not connected to pipeline supplies. Upon assuming the office of chairman, Iftikhar has constituted an executive committee of nine LPG marketing companies having representation in all provinces of the country.
