A 16-year-old lioness died at the Dera Ghazi Khan Zoo on Tuesday. District Wildlife Officer Naveed Tariq said the lioness, Alyssa, had suffered a stroke in May 2013 from which it never recovered completely.
Dr Wasif Ali, who had been looking after the lioness, told The Express Tribune that Alyssa’s condition had been critical since January. Alyssa had joined the Dera Ghazi Zoo in September 2009. She was born at the Bahawalpur Zoo.
