
According to the police, the suspects were arrested during raids in different parts of the capital during the past 45 days. During the same time period, police also conducted nine search operations, mostly targeting slums and the outskirts of Islamabad.
Law enforcement authorities said the 753 suspects nabbed were allegedly involved in theft, murder, robbery, car-theft and drug peddling.
Police also claimed to have recovered 15.859 kg of hashish, 641 grams of heroin, and 1,985 bottles of liquor from the suspects, in addition to four AK-47s, four other guns, 67 pistols, 503 bullets and Rs32 million in cash.
The suspects included 246 court absconders, according to the police.
Inspector General of Police Sikandar Hayat said the arrests are part of the police’s efforts to ensure protection to the lives of the citizens and eliminate criminal activities from the federal capital. Hayat added that the police are trying to establish a relationship of trust with the residents of Islamabad.
