FAISALABAD:

Scores of rickshaw drivers in Faisalabad on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration against a police constable accusing him of highhandedness.

The protestors blocked Makkoana bypass and demanded immediate action against Head Constable Khadim Dewoka.

Akram Ali, one of the protestors, told the media that Dewoka stopped him near Makkoana bypass on Tuesday and abused him.

“When I asked him why he was abusing me, he thrashed me and also took away Rs5,000,” he said.

The protest ended when Station House Officer (SHO) Khurarianwala assured the protestors that the matter would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

He told The Express Tribune that the police were investigating into the matter. “Action will be taken against Dewoka if he is proven guilty,” he said.
