Pakistan Navy crush KESC

KARACHI: Pakistan Navy recorded a 5-1 victory over KESC in the 57th National Hockey Championship.

KESC’s skipper Ali Mehdi converted a penalty corner in the 10th minute of the match to earn a 1-0 lead for his side. However, just seven minutes later Khalid Ali equalised the score-line by converting another penalty corner. At half-time, the match was tied at 1-1.

Falak Zaman converted yet another penalty corner. Gul Amin then scored Navy’s third goal in the 53rd minute while eight minutes later Rao Nadeem secured the match by making the scoreline 4-1. Waqasul Haq made it 5-1 to seal victory for the sailors.

Wadpa beats PIA

Wadpa recorded a 2-1 win over PIA. Asif Michael opened the account for Wapda in the sixth minute before Rehan Butt doubled the lead, scoring in the 20th minute. Mahmood Ali scored PIA’s solitary goal in the 51st minute but WAPDA held onto their lead to seal victory.

Army overpowers NBP

Pakistan Army beat NBP 4-3 as Abdul Haseem Kham opened the account for NBP, scoring in the 20th minute. He scored another goal to stretch their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute but in the next six, Army fought back through Muhammad Rizwan’s brace. Safeer scored in the 46th minute to put Army in the lead before Kashif Ali consolidated Army’s position further with another goal to make it 4-2. Tariq Aziz found the net in the 64th minute but NBP lost by just one goal.
