LAHORE: The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) yesterday expressed concern over the abrupt suspension of gas supply to the industrial sector and urged the concerned authorities to restore it at the earliest, said a press statement. PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javed said that gas was being supplied only to the textile industry. “Gas load-shedding would push the industry to the wall, as the industrial sector is already facing huge problems owing to deteriorating law and order situation,” he said, adding that the government should give priority to the industrial sector. He said that gas load shedding would bring economic activities to a grinding halt so the government should prioritise gas supply to all industries in order to revive economical activities in the country. Javed said that there was a dire need that the government should direct the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) authorities to reset its priorities regarding provision of gas.
