FAISALABAD: Dozens of street vendors from Khurarianwala bazaar on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the town municipal officer (TMO) accusing him of demanding bribes. Abida Parveen, one of the protestors, told the media that Khurarianwala TMO Imtiaz Ahmad Randhawa had been demanding money from street vendors. “He directed the TMA staff to shut down our businesses when we refused to pay him,” she said.  The protestors blocked the University Road and demanded immediate action against the TMO.  The protest ended when Mubashar Hafeez from the district coordination officer’s office assured the protestors that the matter would be dealt with in accordance with the law. TMO Imtiaz Ahmad Randhawa could not be reached.
