Accountability: Man ‘missing’ from police custody

Naseem Bibi staged protest at Head Rajkaan Bridge against police for her husband Muhammad Ramazan’s disappearance.

BAHAWALPUR: Naseem Bibi, supported by hundreds of well-wishers, staged a protest on Saturday at Head Rajkaan Bridge against police for her husband Muhammad Ramazan’s disappearance. Head Rajkaan SHO Tasaduq Abbas asked the family for two days to recover Ramazan. Bibi said the former Derawar SHO Mian Ghazanfar, Sub-inspector Iqbal Shah and Havaldar Muhammad Riaz had arrested her husband in connivance with Haji Noor Muhammad and Mehmood. She said they had tortured him during custody. She said after 10 days, he had either been killed or taken to an unknown location because he was no longer at their lock-up. She said police had not given her a clear answer regarding his whereabouts. Police have registered Bibi’s complaint.
