Pakistan had first set the record in October 2012 when 24,200 people came together to break the record held by Hong Kong.
Saturday’s record was recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records.
Last year, Bangladesh broke Pakistan’s record after over 27,000 people came together to form the Bangladeshi flag.
The record attempts are part of the Punjab Youth Festival.
Punjab Sports Board Director General Usman Anwar said, “Volunteers have been assigned duties for the world record events.”
Minister for Education and Sports Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said on Friday that they aimed to break a number of records.
“The youth will try to set as many as 100 world records,” he said.
The minister said 150,000 people would also attempt the record for the national anthem on February 19.

useless stuffs.. work on education first. These kind of records are just made by asians because developed nations know these records are not worth having.
Actually this is lesson of motivation for us that we can be united at any difficult time or when it is needed so. So please don't give any discouraging comments instead we should encourage those students who have given us a very good lesson. Pakistan Zindabad
@Jag Nathan:
Worry about your country; your opinion doesn't count..
@Sarah:
We understand our national anthem very well but why you sound like an insecure person who looks down upon her own country? Had this record been made by any other country, I'm sure you would have no objection. Learn to cherish what we hold together as a nation and discourage negative mentality such as yours
@NASEER AHMAD KHAN:
I think you should focus on your English language skills instead of comparing Pakistan with other countries.
Waste of time. If waving flags was the solution to a nations problems., Americans should have absolutely no problems. This exercise in nationalism change nothing for the problems that plague Pakistan are structural - terrorism, breakdown of the entire education system, energy, water, food (coming very soon to shops near you), unemployment, foreign direct investments, and a ticking population time bomb. This exercise is nothing but a "Let me pat my pown back" exercise.
That's several hours of 29000 students' lives that are wasted forever. Instead these students could have spent this time studying math/science/etc ... and actually produced something useful. Anyone who thinks this is an "achievement" should migrate to NWA.
Whether Pakistan's flag confirms to the sharia or not, it certainly does not confirm to known science. The position of the star on the moon is possible only if there is a big hole or chipped portion on the moon through which you can see through the star or if the star is in the front of the moon.
seems pretty good that our nation feels the need to stay united. its a cool effort. but what should be our aim in making records ???????? we can get 1st position in education, health, economics, energy sector,jobs etc in list of world records rather than in making flags or singing anthems. i m not against the flag making or singing but my view is regarding our basic rights and basic neeeds rather than wasting ourselves in rubbish :p keep it up pAki's........ U PPL R REAL RECORD MAKERS......
The only thing this country is good at, making a huge human flag every year
its very good news, but its useless,,,i will more happy, when Pakistan will better then Bangladesh and India...on that fields.

Useless to recite national anthem by 150k people when none of us can actually understand it with true spirit. Wastage of time and energy. "Truck ki batti k pechey lagey hain hum"-SR
@Raja: I would be glad to see Pakistanis advancing in science of technology or instead of standing up like morons and chanting we created a world record.
Good to see people coming together in these difficult times. That is One Big achievements. and another Big is goin to happen on 19 feb. @Sarah you need to grow up.
