KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah should clear his position on the decision of the privatisation of Lakhra power project in the Council of the Common Interests meeting, said Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman. While condemning the decision of the council to privatise national institutions, JI chief said that it could not be possible if any of the provinces opposed it in the council’s meeting. “It is truly surprising that the decision regarding the privatisation of the state-owned enterprise, 150-megawatt coal-based Lakhra Power Plant, has been made despite the opposition of the Sindh government,” said Rehman. Earlier, the Sindh government had announced its interest to run the Lakhra power plant either under its full control and command or with public-private partnership rather than to support its privatisation and decided to place this proposal in the upcoming meeting of the council.
